The matter was listed before Joint Registrar (Judicial) Vandana Jain for the completion of pleadings by respondent parties, wherein Ansal's advocates submitted that they wished to withdraw the present suit and requested that the matter be placed before the court. "As requested, let the matter be placed before the Hon'ble Court on 17.04.2023 for further directions," Jain ordered.

A single judge bench of Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani was informed that the Ansals have filed a separate revision plea seeking setting aside of the conviction and sentence for tampering with evidence.

Halfway through the screening of Border, a fire broke out at Delhi’s Uphaar cinema, owned by brothers Sushil and Gopal Ansal, on June 13, 1997, leaving 59 people dead. Trapped inside the hall, most died of asphyxiation. The fire, one of the deadliest in the country, also left over 100 people injured.
