ABOUT Riya Sen

Riya Sen: A Legacy in Film and Beyond Riya Sen, born Riya Dev Varma on January 24, 1981, hails from a lineage deeply rooted in Indian royalty and cinema. Her father, Bharat Dev Varma, belonged to the Tripura royal family, while her mother, Moon Moon Sen, and grandmother, Suchitra Sen, were celebrated actresses. This heritage significantly shaped Sen's entry into the entertainment industry. Starting her career as a child artist at the age of five, appearing alongside her mother, Sen's professional journey commenced with Vishkanya (1991). While early roles established her presence, her breakthrough arrived with the 2001 Hindi comedy Style. Subsequent notable films include the Hinglish musical Jhankaar Beats (2003) and the Malayalam horror film Ananthabhadram (2005). Her performance in Noukadubi earned her the Star Guide Award for Best Actress. Beyond acting, Sen's modelling career began with Falguni Pathak's music video "Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi" in 1998. She has since graced numerous music videos, television commercials, fashion shows, and magazine covers. Furthermore, Sen's commitment extends to social activism, notably through participation in an AIDS awareness campaign and fundraising efforts for pediatric eye care and underprivileged children. While recent film projects may be less prominent, her contributions to the industry and social causes remain a significant aspect of her legacy.
