ABOUT Nana Patekar

Nana Patekar: A Stalwart of Indian Cinema Nana Patekar, born January 1, 1951, stands as a towering figure in Indian cinema, celebrated for his nuanced portrayals and impactful performances across Hindi and Marathi films. A recipient of three National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards, and two Filmfare Awards Marathi, his contributions have earned him the Padma Shri (2013). Patekar's career, launched with Gaman (1978), saw a significant rise after his role in Salaam Bombay! (1988). His performance in Parinda (1989) garnered him his first National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor and a Filmfare Award. His directorial debut, Prahaar: The Final Attack (1991), further solidified his position. The 1990s brought critical and commercial success with films like Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Angaar (winning him a Filmfare Award for Best Villain), Tirangaa, and Krantiveer (which earned him a National Film Award for Best Actor and a Filmfare Award). His performances in Agni Sakshi and Khamoshi: The Musical, both 1996 releases, yielded another National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. His impressive career continued into the 2000s with acclaimed roles in Shakti: The Power, Ab Tak Chhappan, and Apaharan, which won him a second Filmfare Award for Best Villain.
