Marcus Stoinis

"Going into the World Cup, Stoinis will be the big finisher for Australia in the middle order. The all-rounder has the second best average while playing in Indian conditions and has 380 runs to his name off 11 outings. Stoinis also has 40 wickets to his name in the 50-overs format. Having won the 2021 T20 World Cup, it will only be a second ODI World Cup for the 34-year-old.

One-Day memory: 146* vs New Zealand in Auckland, 2017

It was only his second ODI outing when Stoinis attained a triple figure score — his only in the format. After Australia went five down for 54, the swashbuckling right-handed batter smacked an unbeaten 146 off 110 deliveries to almost help the Aussies chase down 287 against New Zealand.

One more thing: As he scored his only ODI ton, Stoinis’ late father was undergoing chemotherapy treatment during his bout with cancer. A woman, who was admitted alongside his father, would write to Stoinis later, telling him how Stoinis Sr. switched cricket on all the TVs to watch his son play from the hospital."
