New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain the bail plea of JNU Students' Union president Kanhaiya Kumar and asked him to approach the Delhi High Court in this regard. The apex court also noted that it would not be appropriate in its precedence to hear the matter. Advocate RP Luthra said the Supreme Court declined to hear bail plea of JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar. Kanhaiya on Thursday moved a petition before the apex court, seeking his release from police custody under Article 32 of the Constitution.

New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): In a major setback to the Congress, the Supreme Court on Thursday vacated the status quo order of maintaining President's Rule in Arunachal Pradesh, thereby giving its nod to government formation in the state. After going through High Court and assembly records, the Supreme Court decided that it doesn't see any reason to interfere with HC order at this stage. Lawyer Satyapal Singh said the SC has transferred the case of revocation of 12 suspended MLA's to Guwahati High Court.

New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday said the present bail hearing of JNU students' union president Kanhaiya Kumar should be adjourned under the present circumstances and formed a panel of five senior lawyers to find out the present situation in the Patiala House Court. Senior advocate Prashant Bhushan said despite the SC order, they received information at around 2'o clock that some lawyers had indulged in beating up some lawyers, some journalists.

New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): Lawyers on Wednesday raised ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ slogans to protest against the anti-national slogans raised inside the Patiala House court premises by the students agitated over the arrest of JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar. Lawyer Vikram Chauhan said people who raised “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans have been made heroes by the media and when they are protesting against it then why are they being called ‘gundas’. Chauhan added they responded only when students tried to beat the lawyers and tear their clothes, adding that they did not hit anyone.

New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): Lawyer Rajeev Tadac, who allegedly raised ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogans during a hearing in the Supreme Court, on Wednesday, said he is not ashamed of doing so. However, Tadac apologised in the court after being reprimanded by a judge. The lawyer, along with his colleagues, had disrupted the Supreme Court proceeding regarding journalists and students being thrashed by BJP leaders outside the Patiala House Court on Monday.

SC directs RBI to submit loan defaulters list

New Delhi, Feb 16 (ANI): After the hearing of a public-interest litigation (PIL) against public sector organisation Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO), lawyer and activist Prashant Bhushan on Tuesday informed that the Supreme Court has directed the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to submit details of all the private companies who have more than Rs 500 crore in outstanding dues. The state-owned HUDCO is mandated with building affordable housing and carrying out urban development.

Lawyers protest turn violent in Lucknow

Lucknow, Feb 10 (ANI): Following the death of a lawyer in Lucknow, hundreds of lawyers in the capital city of Uttar Pradesh went on a rampage to protest against the alleged murder of an advocate of the Allahabad High Court. The violent mob destroyed dozen of vehicles and set two buses and a building on fire. A lawyer, Shravan Verma, was allegedly murdered in the Naka area of Lucknow. An FIR has been registered by the local police and three arrests have been made in connection with the case.
