Dr J Jayalalithaa passed away on December 5, 2016 after a prolonged stay in hospital for a variety of ailments. Her end came after she suffered a cardiac arrest. She was Chief Minister of
Tamil Nadu and the General Secretary of the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) when she breather her last at the age of 68. Popularly referred to as Amma by her supporters, she was serving her sixth term as Chief Minister of the state. Before joining politics she had made a name for herself as an actress. She had worked in close to 140 films in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages.
