Giridhari Yadav biography

Giridhari Yadav is a veteran political leader from Bihar and a member of Janata Dal United. He is the incumbent Member of the Parliament from Bihar’s Banka Lok Sabha constituency. He was born on April 14, 1961, in Banka, Bihar, to his parents, Dhano Yadav and Jagti Devi. In 1982, he graduated with a B.A. in History from Bhagalpur University. Then, at the age of 33, he relocated to Madhya Pradesh to pursue postgraduate studies at DHG University, Sagar, where he earned an M.A. in history. Later, at Bhagalpur University, he earned an LLB in law.

His political career started with the Indian Youth Congress under Rajiv Gandhi. Later on, he became friends with well-known people like V.P. Singh. He first achieved political success with the Janata Dal, winning seats in the 11th Lok Sabha (1996–1999) and the Bihar Legislative Assembly (1995–1996). After that, he joined the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which helped them win the 14th Lok Sabha (2004-2009) and the Bihar Vidhan Sabha (2000-2004). This time frame demonstrates his flexibility and aptitude for navigating various political environments.

His political affiliation underwent a dramatic change in 2010 when he joined the JDU. After that, he was elected to the Bihar Vidhan Sabha twice in a row (2010–2014 and 2014–2019), and he is currently serving in the Lok Sabha following his victory in the 2019 election from Banka Lok Sabha seat.
