IOC and the Esports World Cup Foundation have also mutually agreed to end their partnership on the inaugural edition of the event, which was initially scheduled for 2027.

"It was a very unfortunate moment. It was fatal. What to do it is a part of online chess. It happens," Duda said in an interview afterwards. "It's kind of upsetting but also kind of funny. I will probably remember this for the rest of my life."
