Govt to rename Chenani-Nashri tunnel after Syama Prasad Mookerjee

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the decision saying that Mookerjee’s struggle for “one nation, one flag” has contributed to “national integration”.

Once completed,the 9-km-long Chenani-Nashri tunnel in J&K will be the longest road tunnel in the country and,along with the Qazigund-Banihal tunnel,will cut travel time from Jammu to Kashmir Valley from 10 hours to five.
