He demonstrated his passion for student politics and social activity during his undergraduate years by actively participating in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), which marked the beginning of his political career.

His political career took a significant turn in 2005 when he successfully ran for the Bihar State Assembly seat of Keoti from the BJP. He went on to win his seat back in the assembly elections in 2010 and the by-election in 2005, confirming his standing as a key party member and showcasing his close ties to the community's voters.

He turned his attention to national politics in 2019 and entered the Madhubani constituency in the Lok Sabha elections. He won, handily defeating his closest opponent, riding the BJP's nationwide wave and using his experience and local popularity to his advantage. His political career reached a significant turning point with this triumph, which catapulted him onto the national scene.
