532 kg heroin recovery case: 'Key accused died in jail due to medical negligence'

Gurpinder, a diabetic patient, died in judicial custody on July 21 after his intermittent stay in Amritsar Central Jail since July. He was arrested by Customs after recovery of 532 kg heroin and 52 kg of mixed narcotics at Attari Integrated Check post.

In a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal recently,the Punjab government has decided to shift Amritsar Central Jail from Amritsar International Airport road to a site located in Fatahpur and Bharariwala village where Amritsar Improvement Trust (AIT) had planned a Dairy Development Scheme nearly two decades back.
