How will you feel if you see an airplane parked beside your car at a parking lot? Sounds bizarre, right? But this is a common sight at a factory in Czech Republic.
Frantisek Hadrava spent two years building his own airplane just to cut seven minutes from his commute.
Yes, you read it right! Hadrava built a small airplane just to fly to his workplace every day. The man who works in a local factory wanted to save time and what’s better than flying to work instead of getting caught in traffic on the roads.
The journey from his home to his workplace was just about 12-14 minutes, according to a video uploaded by Quartz. In the video, he says that he can save another two minutes if he flies directly, however, he takes a detour not to disturb people.
He built the plane on his own and it cost him $4000. The cute little plane has an open cockpit because the one with a roof might have looked shabby and also, he would miss all the fun. The plane has a propeller and only one seat, sadly though, because he can’t offer a ride to anyone even if he wants to.
Every day he lands the airplane at a field just across the factory site. The video shows Hadrava dragging his plane to the parking lot and positioning it alongside other cars parked there.
The tiny plane is built according to the series of American planes known as Mini-MAX and he also plans to build another one, a replica of Deperdussin Monocque, he says in the video.
Haven’t we all heard of the cliché that advanced things were invented to save our time! Well, quite literally.
