India's Yashasvi Jaiswal celebrates after reaching his century. (Reuters)Yashasvi Jaiswal was the lone batter in the Indian lineup who could convert his start against England on the first day of the second Test match in Vizag on Friday with the youngster finishing the day with an unbeaten 179.
After the match, the 22-year-old would open up about the innings and said that he wants to convert the 179 into 200 when India came to bat on Saturday on Day 2.
“I wanted to play it session by session. When they were bowling well, I just wanted to get through that spell. Initially, the wicket was damp and there was spin and bounce, with a bit of seam. However, I wanted to convert the loose balls, and play till the end. I would love to double this up, and play till the end for the team,” he said after the day’s play.

He also revealed how coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma had guided him throughout the day.
“Rahul sir and Rohit bhai kept giving me the confidence and told me to convert this into a big innings, and stay till the end,” Jaiswal said.
Jaiswal’s 179 helped India reach 336 for 6 at stumps on the opening day of the second Test against England.
The Rajasthan Royals batter, who made 80 in the opening match in Hyderabad, struck his second century in six Tests.He slammed 17 fours and five sixes during his knock that came off 257 balls.
Jaiswal was involved in a 90-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer who made 27. Debutant Rajat Patidar made 32.
At close of play, R Ashwin was giving company to Jaiswal on five.
Earlier, Rohit Sharma (14 runs; 41 balls) fell cheaply, while Shubman Gill (34; 46b) failed to convert his start.
For England, debutant spinner Shoaib Bashir and leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed took two wickets apiece while James Anderson and Tom Hartley chipped in with one wicket each.
