Anubhav Sinha – Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One

RA.One’s music launch was full of glitz and glamour with Shah Rukh Khan,Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal dancing to the film’s tracks,including the foot-tapping Chhammmak chhallo sung by international singer Akon. The launch took off with SRK landing dramatically on the stage suspended from the ceiling and grooving to the hit numbers from the film. “It’s a simple film about a husband,wife,their son and the bad guy. It’s about relationships and life,some kickass action and some thrilling special effects. It’s a great mix that will surely take Hindi cinema forward,” said the star,adding that it would be released in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously.

Kareena,the leading lady,who was dressed in a red designer saree,said that SRK had given her a wonderful film,and was looking forward to the Diwali release. “I believe that it will surpass the box-office collections of Bodyguard,” she said.

It was close friend Karan Johar who did the honours of releasing the music as Shah Rukh has dedicated the film’s music to Karan’s late father Yash Johar and Juhi Chawla’s ailing brother Bobby Chawla.

Himesh Reshammiya’s Damadamm

After the success of Bodyguard and its music,Himesh Reshammiya released the audio of his forthcoming film Damadamm with a different style — he sang the songs with the musicians and along with the cast of the film at his music room. Lead artistes Sonal Sehgal and Purbi Joshi,director Swapna Waghmare,lyricists Sameer and Shabbir Ahmed were present along with Himesh’s father Vipin Reshammiya. The music composer-turned-actor also introduced his new singers Sachin Gupta,Punnu Brar and Shahab Shabri.

The music of the film has been marketed by T-Series as well as HR Musik,Himesh’s own music label.

Kshitij Tarey’s Ae Dosheeza…

Times Music’s Ae Dosheeza…,an album by Kshitij Tarey that features rock,ballad,sufi,Hindustani classical and remix was released on September 13. Album composer Gaurav Dagaonkar says,“Kshitij’s strength as a singer of melodic semi-classical and sufi melodies had already been well-used by various composers,but his ability to sing pop/rock songs had not. So the idea was to showcase Kshitij’s versatility.”

Kshitij made his debut in Anwar with the songs Jaweda zindagi and Maula mere. He has since sung in The Train,Dev D,Lamhaa and Murder 2. This is his first solo album and it has seven songs.


Tinu Verma’s This Weekend

Amitabh Bachchan released the music of Tinu Verma’s action thriller This Weekend with producer-director-stunt coordinator Tinu Verma’s team and Sanjeev Gupta from Global Advertisers at a Mumbai suburban five-star hotel on September 13.

Rajniesh Duggal,Sayali Bhagat and famous Tamil actor Arjun were present along with music director Vijay Verma and lyricist Shakeel Azmi. The film is shot in Hindi,Tamil and Telugu with the same star-cast.

Prashant Chadha’s Aazaan

Sanjay Dutt launched the music of the film on terrorism and espionage,Aazaan,at a Mumbai five-star hotel on September 13. Composers Salim-Sulaiman were also present and the centre of attraction was South African model Candice Boucher,who plays a key role in the film. Singer Shraddha Pandit and stylist Roopa Chadha were also present at the launch.

Sachiin Joshi plays the hero in the film that is directed by Prashant Chadha.

Bhoomi’s Desh Jurrey

Bhoomi’s second album with Universal Music India,Desh Jurrey was launched by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee recently. Bhoomi explores musical realms beyond Bengal with a unique concept — Regional Folk Music Flavour across the nation.

Desh Jurrey (One Nation) aims to capture the folk and traditional music across India. The listeners will experience Bangla lyrics to traditional Marathi,Punjabi,Gujarati,Rajasthani and various other folk songs across the country.

Says Surojit,‘Till date Bhoomi had created and sung songs related to Bengali folk and culture. Bhoomi has taken a very progressive step in imbibing the various folks of India. The idea is to make the local Bengali community aware of the different folk cultures of India and subsequently make the music connect with the different communities from other states.”
