Thane Sena leader held for ‘rape’ after minor girl delivers baby

15-yr-old girl repeatedly ‘raped’ by Vasudeo Nambiyar, a trustee of her school, for past 1 year, say police.

The Kashimira police in Thane rural district on Thursday arrested Shiv Sena district deputy chief Vasudeo Nambiyar (61) for raping a minor.

“The 15-year-old victim is a student of Class10 of Gyaan Parbodhini Vidyamandir, of which Nambiyar is a trustee. On September 2, the victim complained of stomach pain, and her mother took her to a doctor. After examining her, the local doctor recommended that the girl needed to be taken to a nursing home. She was taken to Ganesh nursing home,” said Jagdish Walvi, sub-inspector, Kashimira police station.

“At the nursing home, the victim delivered a baby. The girl then informed her parents that she was being repeatedly raped by a trustee of the school at his bunglow for the past one year. The hospital authorities informed us, and then we approached the victim’s family. We were taken a back as the minor was eight months  pregnant and her family members were not aware of it,” added Walvi.

“However, I took the statement of the victim and she said that Nambiyar took her to his bungalow located opposite her  school and raped her on several occasions. He had threatened her of dire consequences if she informed anyone about the incidents,  Walvi said.

The officer added that strangely, neither her parents nor her teachers found out about her pregnancy for eight months. “On September 2, she delivered a premature child, and on September 4, we arrested Nambiyar. He was later produced him in a court. The victim was sent for medical tests while the accused and the child were sent for DNA testing as Nambiyar refuted the allegation. We are now waiting for the medical reports,” Walvi said.

The accused has been charged under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

“The  Shiv Sena district deputy chief was produced before a local magistrate on September 5, who remanded him in police custody till September 11,” the sub-inspector said.

The Mulund police on Saturday arrested a doctor for allegedly raping a minor. The police said Dr Jayesh Khataria (49) worked at a nursing home in Mulund.

“The victim met Khataria on September 1 at his nursing home, Aakansha, located in Mehul talkies in Mulund (West). She was suffering from stomach pain. While examining the victim, the accused took her pictures.

Later, when the victim approached the nursing home for the report, she was asked to make a call to Khataria. On September 5, Khataria asked the victim to meet him near Swapn Nagari in Mulund,” said S S Kadam, senior police inspector of Kapurbawadi police station.

“He asked her to get into his car. Later, the accused showed her the semi-nude pictures he had clicked of her while examining her on September 1. He threatened her that he would upload them on various social networking sites.

Khataria then took the girl to Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Borivali and raped her. He then left her at Majiwada junction in Thane. This is the reason why we registered an FIR but later transferred the case to Mulund Police station as the nursing home falls in the area under Mulund police’s jurisdiction,” added Kadam.

“We arrested Khataria on Saturday from his residence. The victim was taken to a government hospital for examination,” said Prakash Mansukh, police inspector from Mulund Police station.

Khataria has been charged under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
