Vyapam scam: Delhi govt offers job to dead reporter’s sister

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday visited the family of television journalist Akshay Singh, who died on July 4 while on an assignment in Madhya Pradesh to investigate the Vyapam deaths.

Kejriwal and Sisodia, who visited Singh’s house in Mayur Vihar, offered a job to Singh’s sister. A government official said she would be given a job that she qualifies for, and can be taken on board immediately.

“The family is in a state of shock. They have lost their young son who was the only earning member of their family. We have offered them full financial assistance and a job for his sister,” said Sisodia. According to officials, Kejriwal and Sisodia spent about an hour with the grieving family.

“Singh was very attached to his family (mother and sister). He was engaged to a girl but unfortunately he died before they could get married,” said a colleague of the journalist, requesting anonymity.

Singh, who worked for Aaj Tak, died in Meghnagar near Jhabua.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Kumar Vishwas has moved the Supreme Court seeking a CBI probe into the Vyapam scam.
