Sarbananda Sonowal becomes CM of Assam, PM Modi says India’s development has to be inclusive

The swearing-in ceremony is being planned as the BJP’s show of strength following its first election victory in the Northeast.

5.33 pm: The swearing-in ceremony in Khanapara ends with the speech of Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal.

5. 30 pm: Leaders like Ram Madhav amd Mahedra Singh have helped us during the entire election, says Sarbananda Sonowal

5.28 pm: We’ll have to free Assam of all the distress. I’m hoping the people will support us to advance our state,  says Sarbananda Sonowal

5.15 pm: PM Modi addresses the people at the event. PM thanks the citizen for giving BJP a chance to serve the people. The PM lauds Sarbananda Sonowal, says an apt CM for the state.

5.10 pm: Hemanta Biswa Sharma invites PM Modi to address the people in the swearing-in ceremony.

 5.05 pm: Amit Shah takes the stage. He congratulates the people on the big win. Shah promises a change in Assam within the next 5 years

5.00 pm: MP CM Shivraj Singh addresses the people. Chouhan said he is confidant of the development of Assam under CM Sarbananda Sonowal.

4.58 pm: Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal Chandra Babu Naidu congratulates the victorious party and the people of Assam.

4.55 pm: Hemanta Biswa Sharma takes stage to address the public. Welcomes all the ministers. Invites Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal to the dias.

4.53 pm: Pollab Lochan Das takes oath as Miniser of State independent

4.50 pm: Nobo Kumar Dole, takes oath as Cabinet Minister

4.40 pm: Several BJP members including, Chandra Mohan Patowary, Keshav Mahanta, Ranjit Dutta, Rihang Daimary take oath as cabinet ministers

4.35 pm: AGP president Atul Bora, Pramila Rani Brahma, Parimal Shukla Vaidya take oath as ministers

4.30 pm: BJP MLA Sonowal took oath as CM of Assam, creating history, amid loud cheers from the audience

4.25 pm: And Modi has arrived. The Prime Minister was given a loud applause as he took stage

4.20 pm: PM Narendra Modi arrives at the venue of the swearing-in ceremony

4.15 pm: PM Narendra Modi arrives at Borjhar airport, Guwahati. Sarbananda Sonowal welcomes him. Also present at the swearing-in ceremony are top Union ministers including Rajnath Singh, Venkaiah Naidu and Nitin Gadkari

4.10 pm: BJP’s Hemanta Biswa Sharma on stage adressing the public. Amit Shah, Anant Kumar, Kiren Rijiju, V K Singh, Rajasthan CM Vansundhara Raje, Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel, Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh, Parkash Singh Badal, senior leader LK Advani, Rajnath Singh felicitated
