Indian Navy officer dies in INS Kuthar due to accidental firing

Indian Navy officer Sub Lt Tejveer Singh fired the round accidentally at around 1430 hours onboard INS Kuthar.

Sub Lieutenant Tejveer Singh of INS Kuthar died on Tuesday after he accidentally fired his 9mm pistol on the Khukri-class corvette. The Indian Navy officer was handling firearms onboard INS Kuthar.

According to news agency Press Trust of India, Tejveer Singh fired the round accidentally at around 1430 hours and was injured. He was then shifted to Naval Hospital INHS Kalyani in Visakhapatnam wherein he succumbed to his injuries. Singh was from Haryana and his family has been informed.

Reports suggest a Board of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate into the incident.
