An elderly man died after collapsing while waiting in a queue outside a bank in Jharkhand’s Palamu district on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said Ram Chandra Paswan, in his seventies, was a resident of Rambandh village of Garhwa district and had come to withdraw money from his pension account at the Mohammadganj Branch of the SBI. In the afternoon, he collapsed and was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed.
“It was a long queue and he was said to have been waiting for hours,” said SDPO (Hussainabad) Manoj Kumar Mahato, adding that there were no reports of pushing and jostling in the queue outside the bank. He said though Paswan was from a village in Garhwa, the nearest bank was in Mohammadganj and people from his area mostly went there.
