Assam: 4-year-old girl beheaded, sacrificed to trace lost mobile phone

The severed head and arms of the girl, who went missing on October 24, were found nearby.

In a shocking incident, a four-year-old Adivasi girl was allegedly beheaded and offered as sacrifice by a ‘tantrik’ in Assam to trace a lost mobile phone. According to reports, the body of the girl was recovered on Monday afternoon from a forest near her home in Ratanpur tea estate in Charaideo district of upper Assam. The severed head and arms of the girl, who went missing on October 24, were found nearby.

Reports says that the girl was allegedly tortured to retrieve the lost mobile phone of one Hanuman Bhumij’s daughter. Bhumij and another suspect Ariful Ali, identified as the ‘tantrik’ assistant, have been arrested. The main accused, Abdul Jalil, is absconding.
