Sonakshi’s first full-fledged comic role in Action Jackson
After exploring the genre, Sonakshi would now like to do a romcom and also work with Imtiaz Ali

She may have done bits of comical acting in her previous films, but it is for the first time that Sonakshi Sinha will be playing an out-and-out funny character in Action Jackson. Sinha plays an office going girl from Mumbai, who keeps finding herself in hilarious situations.
“When the film was offered to me, the producers said they needed a girl with great comic timing. And since Prabhu sir (director Prabhu Dheva) had worked with me in two movies (Rowdy Rathore and R… Rajkumar) earlier, he knew I could tackle the part. This is the first film in which I have done a full -fledged comic role. My character is very funny and mazedaar; she always gets stuck in stupid situations, but later, her luck changes,” explained Sinha.
The actress did not find the genre difficult, as she has a good sense of humour and good comic timing, both of which she has inherited from her father, Shatrughan Sinha. “It was so much fun doing comedy. Personally, I find crying difficult and very tough. I feel you are very vulnerable when you cry in front of so many people. I am fine making faces and cracking jokes in front of people,” she said adding that it’s also the first time that she is part of a multi-starrer as the film also stars Yami Gautam and newcomer Manasvi Mamgai.
Now that she has explored the genre, Sinha would like to do a romcom soon. “I have not worked in a light-hearted romcom and would like to explore that genre. I really like Imtiaz Ali as a director and would love to do a film like Jab We Met. He makes his films really well. I hope I get a chance to work with him someday.”
Her next, however, is a woman oriented action flick to be helmed by A.R. Murugadoss. The yet untitled film, which was to start after Diwali this year, has now been pushed to January, 2015 as Sonakshi is busy promoting Action Jackson, Lingaa and Tevar, which releases early next year.
“Next year, I will be doing different genres. For Murugadoss’s film, I will be training in martial arts – which form I still don’t know. I am really looking forward to working with him once again after Holiday:.A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, as his scripts are very thought provoking with several twists and turns,” she said.
Sinha is also excited about the multi-lingual Lingaa in which she is paired opposite Rajinikant. “A new industry, a new language and new people, yet it didn’t feel like my first film. I picked up the language and accent really well. My director K.S. Ravikumar and Rajini sir were very happy. I don’t think I could have made a better debut in Tamil cinema. There are amazing scripts in the South, which is why so many get remade in Hindi,” she concluded.
