European Union Film Festival is all set to arrive in the city with a feast of 23 award-winning European movies. The festival will be organised by the delegation of the European Union and the embassies of EU member states in association with National Film Archives, Pune.
The festival will be hosted across two venues, NFAI and British Council, from July 13 to 24.
It will kick off with the screening of a German film, ‘Jack’, the story of a ten-year-old abandoned boy who takes up the responsibility of his six-year-old brother and takes charge of his life on his own.

In its 21st edition, the festival will feature 23 exceptional new European films from Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
Ambassador of the European Union Tomasz Kozlowski said, “The festival has won a special place in the Indian film calendar and in the hearts of the viewers by showcasing the wry, the unexpected, the beautiful and even the tragic events of ordinary lives in unfamiliar settings. The Pune audience has always given an excellent response to our festival. We hope they will share the same enthusiasm, this time.”
Director of NFAI Prakash Magdum said, “Films break the barriers of language; bringing together civilisations and cultures. These film festivals help build friendship and provide a platform to share knowledge. I hope the festival will be a significant annual event in Pune.”
