A fire broke out in Garib Nagar, Bandra East in Mumbai on Thursday afternoon. Sixteen fire engines and 12 water tankers are at the spot. Rescue operations are underway and no casualty has been reported as of now. It was not immediately known what caused the fire. The area is inhabited by slum dwellers and the fire is spreading to nearby hutments. Commuters have been advised to stay away from the Bandra East side ticket booking office. There is also heavy police deployment near the site.
The Harbour line was briefly closed from 16.25 hours due to the fire. The services, however resumed soon on all lines at Bandra, Western Railways said as reported by ANI.
