Guard pulls out,loses family in other mishap

This train tragedy was a real irony of sorts for DC Srivastava,guard of Magadh Express,which collided with the Bihar-bound Lichchavi Express at Sarai Bhopat near Etawah.

His family was in a festive mood after his daughter Smiriti’s

marriage was recently finalised. But destiny had something else planned for them.

He lost his wife Sadhna and daughter Smiriti who were returning to Allahabad from New Delhi by the Prayagraj Express after shopping for the marriage.

“Srivastava also sustained injuries. He was on duty on the Magadh Express. What was shocking is the fact that he and his family were returning from Delhi after shopping for his daughter’s marriage,” said R K Bhardwaj,Srivastava’s neighbour in Allahabad.

According to sources,his wife and daughter also wanted to come along with him but due to non-availability of seats on Magadh Express,Srivastava booked their tickets on the Prayagraj Express.

They were in the last coach of Prayagraj Express.

Outside Srivastava’s house in Loco Colony,relatives relatives and friends were seen consoling his younger son and daughter.

The bodies of the victims are being brought to the city by a special coach of the relief train arranged by NCR authorities.
