Police look for Youth Congress leader

The police said around 22 students had been admitted to DU colleges.

A day after the Delhi Police arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in fake admissions in Delhi University (DU) colleges, police on Friday said they were looking for two more persons, including a Youth Congress leader.

DCP (crime-south) Bhisham Singh said, “We are looking for Indrajeet Singh alias Kaku, who is president of the Youth Congress from Malviya Nagar.”

Youth Congress spokesperson Amrish Ranjan Pandey, however, said Indrajeet was not associated with the party. “We checked our records. His name is nowhere mentioned. He is not even a party office-bearer from any part of Delhi.”

But, the DCP said Indrajeet had participated in university elections for the Youth Congress from Aurobindo College. “There are even political hoardings on him in Malviya Nagar,” he said.

The police are also looking for Himanshu (35) for his alleged involvement in the racket. “Himanshu was involved in a similar racket in 2011. Then, he used to get students admitted with fake OBC certificates,” the DCP said.

He was arrested in 2011, but later released on bail.

The police have arrested four persons – Sunil Panwar alias Guruji (41), Ranchit Khurana (30), Praveen Jha (35) and Juber for their alleged involvement in the racket.

The police said around 22 students had been admitted to DU colleges.
