BJP Mandal president booked for cop assault
The police said the incident took place on Saturday evening at Mauli Jagran police post.
Police have booked the president of BJP Mandal for allegedly quarreling and assaulting a head constable while he was on duty at the Mauli Jagran police post on Saturday evening.
The police have identified the accused as Mukesh Rai, who is also the BJP Mandal president.
The police said the incident took place on Saturday evening when Mukesh entered as a “middleman” at Mauli Jagran police post when the police officers were engaged with a conflict of two neighbours staying in Vikas Nagar.

Rai had allegedly asked the officers to not register a case in the matter and settle for a compromise. Head constable Kadam Singh present at the spot said he will act as per the law. Following which, a scuffle took place and Rai allegedly slapped the cop and tore his uniform.
The police have registered a case in the matter on the complaint of the Kadam Singh. At the time of filing this report, the accused is yet to be arrested.
Rai has been booked under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servants in discharge of public functions) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code at the Manimajra police station.
