Haj ticket fraud- Susairaj, partners made transactions in name of peon: cops

According to police, Susairaj, her “live-in” partner Chakravarty and the others carried out transactions in the name of an illiterate peon, Hanif Mohammad, who was unaware of his bank account details.

Police have also started the process to freeze the bank account of their Mumbai-based “friend” Anita Vaidya in whose account Rs 25 lakh of the total duped amount was allegedly transferred.

According to investigators, Susairaj, currently in the police custody, claimed that she was “in the dark” about the financial frauds committed by Chakravarty, whom she had met at a women’s prison in Mumbai after her arrest in the 2008 murder case of TV producer Neeraj Grover. Later, they shared a flat for two years in Mumbai and were also in a lesbian relationship, police said.

Vadodara DCB Inspector R N Patel said, “Susairaj appears to have a little information about the money transactions, which were mostly handled by Chakravarty. Susairaj said they met at the Byculla jail. Chakravarty was there in connection with a cheating case. They got into a lesbian relationship in the jail. Susairaj told us that Chakravarty gave her a lot of money to spend.”
