World Cup 2023 Teams

The 2023 ODI World Cup is the 13th edition of the tournament and the fourth instance of India hosting the showpiece ICC Cricket World Cup.

Team India are one of the seven teams to have played in all editions of the tournament, alongside the Australian cricket team, Sri Lanka, Pakistan cricket team, West Indies, England and New Zealand.

The Men in Blue are also among a select group of six nations to have won the World Cup. That list includes Australia, West Indies, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England.

Australia hold the record for most ODI Cricket World Cup titles: five. What is remarkable about their five titles is that between 1999 and 2007, they won all three titles on offer.

In the last four editions, New Zealand are the only team to have reached the final four stages of the tournament each time, having played the final in 2015 and 2019. The Black Caps are yet to lift the trophy.

One of the biggest names missing in the fray from the 2023 edition are two-time champions West Indies, while The Netherlands look like the fairytale story of the 2023 World Cup, having managed to beat South Africa in the 50-overs competition, having done so in the T20 World Cup in 2022 as well. It was a first-ever ODI World Cup win for the Dutch against a full-member ICC nation.

Another upset at the ongoing tournament was caused by Afghanistan, who registered only their second win in the tournament, toppling England in the league stage. The Afghans had made a tournament debut in the 2015 edition and had managed to clinch a first win against Scotland before going winless in 2019.
