World Cup 2023 best bowling average
The 2023 ODI World Cup is the 13th edition of the cricket’s showpiece tournament. While the 2023 World Cup will be the fourth instance of India hosting the event, the Men in Blue have clinched the title two times so far.
Over the past 12 editions, the Cricket World Cup has seen some incredible performances with the ball. This includes the sight of Australia’s Glenn McGrath tearing through Namibia batters at Potchefstroom in the 2003 edition of the World Cup. The speedster bowled seven overs, claimed seven wickets and gave away just 15 runs at an economy rate of 2.14. Of his seven overs, four were maidens.
The list of best bowling averages is topped by a surprise candidate: Pakistan’s Mohammed Yousuf who claimed a wicket in the only ball he has bowled at the World Cup to leave his average at 0.0.
Sri Lanka’s Thilan Samaraweera had an impressive outing at the 2011 World Cup, which led to his average being at 4.00. South Africa’s Lonwabo Lopsy Tsotsobe is third on the list of the best averages at the Cricket World Cup with 4.66.
