Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphones have been launched at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The flagship devices feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and better camera features. Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact will be available starting March in in Liquid Silver, Liquid Black, Deep Green and Ash Pink colour options.

Sony Xperia XZ2 features the bigger 5.7-inch FHD+ display with an 18:9 screen aspect ratio. Meanwhile, the Xperia XZ2 Compact offers a 5-inch FHD+ display with the same aspect ratio. Both the smartphones feature High Dynamic Range (HDR) displays. Sony Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Compact come with IP65 and IP68 certifications, making both devices dust and water resistance.

Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact run Android 8.0 Oreo. The devices will ship with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, expandable up to 400GB via a microSD card slot. The Xperia XZ2 is backed by a 3,180 mAh battery.

Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact support wireless charging. Both smartphones will feature a fingerprint scanner at the back, below the camera unit.

Sony Xperia XZ2 is the world’s first smartphone to be able to support 4K HDR videos. The rear camera is a 19MP Motion Eye camera. The camera lens supports ISO levels of 12,800 and Super slow-motion video at 960fps in Full HD resolution. The Xperia XZ2 Compact also sports the same camera specifications.

Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact feature a 3D-creator face scanning app, which will enable 3D scans and let users create their 3D avatars.

Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact do not sport a 3.5mm headphone jack. Alongside the two phones, Sony also introduced Xperia Ear Duo wireless headphones.

Sony has also launched Style Cover Touch and Style Cover Stand for both the Xperia XZ2 models in several colour options. Charging accessories that are available for both devices includes the Wireless Charging Dock (WCH20), and Quick Charger UCH12W.
