A statement released by the interior ministry of Afghanistan stated that in a Shia mosque located in the western part Kabul around 39 people were killed and more than 45 were injured when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives among some 100 worshipers. (Source: AP)

Pakistan Foreign Affairs Ministry reacting to the grievous incident in Afghanistan on Saturday released a statement saying, "The government and people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with the Afghan government and its people. Pakistan expressed condolences to the affected families and reiterated its condemnation of all forms of terrorism." (Source: AP)

In a statement on its website late Friday, IS claimed its fighter Abu Ammar al-Turkmani “detonated his explosive vest among the apostates” during Friday prayers in the Imam Zaman mosque in western Kabul.(Source: AP)
