Policemen save poll officer’s life in Jammu

The life of a poll officer,who fell seriously ill during the first phase polling in Jammu-Poonch parliamentary constituency in Samba district,was saved thanks to the efforts by the policemen present there.

Policemen on duty at a polling station in Reyod in Samba district found that election officer Sudershan Singh got sick after the polling completed at 1700 hours on Thursday,a police spokesman said in Jammu on Friday.

As the condition of poll officer deteriorated,the policemen took him on their shoulders and rushed him to a hospital,covering a distance of about five kilometres on foot.

The life of the polling officer was saved by timely treatment,he said.

Taking note of the exemplary courage shown by the policemen,DIG Jammu-Kathua range A Q Manhas rewarded the party by giving them commendation certificate and cash award,the spokesman said.
