Omar wants Centre to talk to him directly

Apparently peeved over news reports that Centre has asked the J-K govt to transfer power to newly-elected panchayats,CM Omar Abdullah said New Delhi should talk to him directly and not through the media.

Apparently peeved over news reports that Centre has asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to transfer power to newly-elected panchayats,Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said New Delhi should talk to him directly and not not through the media.

“When will “Delhi” learn not to talk to me via newspapers,” he wrote on his micro-blogging site twitter.com.

Omar was responding to a news story published in a national daily today asking him to empower people by devolution of powers to the newly-elected Sarpanchs and Panchs in the state.

Responding to another tweet about the origin of the story, the Chief Minister said “read between the lines & (and) you’ll know where in “Delhi” this emerged from.” Panchayat elections have been conducted in Jammu and Kashmir after a gap of one decade and Omar has repeatedly promised to empower the grass roots level institutions for all round development of the state.
