Newly-elected Leader of Opposition Nand Kishore Yadav on Wednesday slammed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar saying clash of ego with Narendra Modi and prime ministerial ambition resulted in the JD(U) snapping ties with the BJP. It was perhaps the first time in seven years that Nitish faced a strong attack from the Opposition with Yadav saying,The truth is that you panicked. Dont envy Modi, instead try to achieve more than what he has done. And when you are out of the PM race, why this competition? Equating Nitish with Orissa CM Naveen Patnaik, who, too, snapped ties with the BJP,Yadav said that there was nothing wrong in the son of a tea vendor (Modi) becoming the PM,and that Nitish was indulging in politics of convenience with Modi being only an excuse Yadav, who was a minister in the NDA government, said that Nitish cannot take the credit for the overwhelming majority the NDA got in 2010 Assembly polls. It is the BJP which projected you as the CM. We came to power, you took years to strengthen yourself and when your purpose was served, you kicked us. Modi is just an excuse, Yadav said, adding that voters will give a fitting reply to this betrayal of mandate. We fought together in 2000 and 2005 Assembly elections. You alone didnt get us votes. People are watching and soon you will regret your decision, prompted by some power-seekers around you. You used to take pride in being anti-Congress,and criticised its art of getting numbers. Now,you have learnt this art. Time is not far when you will also learn some of the sins of the Congress, he said, cautioning Nitish not to take the entire credit of Bihars turnaround story. We are equal partners in every welfare scheme, he added.
