A four-member Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) team from Maharashtra on Friday interrogated Sri Ram Sene founder Pramod Muthalik in connection with the Malegaon blasts and his suspected links with the prime accused in the case, including Lt Col Srikant Purohit.

The team, which arrived in Mangalore on Thursday, had to wait until Friday evening to question Muthalik, who had spoken in support of the Malegaon blast and Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur.

Judicial Magistrate K S Vijay, who rejected Muthaliks bail application, remanded him to 24-hour police custody. The Bunder police took Muthalik in custody after which the ATS team interrogated him, police sources said.

A police team from Madikeri (Kodagu district) also arrived with a body warrant, seeking custody of Muthalik in connection with a case booked against him in 2003. Muthalik had made a provocative speech in December 2003 at Gonikoppal, following which a case was registered against him,the police said. The Madikeri police could not present the warrant before the court on Friday as Muthalik was remanded to Police custody in Mangalore.
