Why Deepa Sahi chose to shoot Tere Mere Phere,a film on marriage and relationships,in the Himalayas.
People often ask Deepa Sahi why she chose the Himalayas to shoot Tere Mere Phere,a film on marriage and relationships. Her answer is very simple love and mountainous districts are the same in many respects. Like all relationships that are sometimes beautiful and sometimes traumatic, the terrains of the mountains though breathtakingly beautiful can also be torturous. I was enticed with visuals of the Himalayan districts of Nako in Jalori district,Sangla Valley,Kinore and other places when I was doing a research on the Internet about the locations. But it was only when we started shooting there that I realised how treacherous these locations can be with the narrow roads, steep climbs and six feet deep snow, says Deepa who is making her directorial debut with this film.
Deepa, who set the love story on the roads of the Himalayas, said that she was shifting base almost every two days. Sometimes they would shoot about 700 feet, while at times they would be 14,000 feet above sea level and the entire schedule of 35 days was like an adventure.
There was a new weather condition every time we shifted base. In Nako, which is one of the highest points there was a lack of oxygen and we found it difficult to breathe. In places like the Rohtang Pass we had to call the army to clear the snow. But looking back I think the setting was just perfect for my film, says the actor-turned-filmmaker. The film which stars Vinay Pathak,Riya Sen and newcomers Jagrat Desai and Sasha Goradia releases in March.
