“He (Khan) misbehaved and abused MCA security personnel as well as MCA officials, including our president Vilasrao Deshmukh, after the IPL match (between KKR and Mumbai Indians). We have decided to ban him for life from entering the stadium in future,” MCA vice-president Ravi Savant said.

Reacting to the controversy,a top KKR official told The Indian Express,”Shah Rukh entered the stadium with some kids and just wanted to play a round of tennis ball cricket with them. Surprisingly, the MCA authorities were very rude. The guards shoved the kids and some very provocative words were used against Shah Rukh”.

The incident occurred after the high-pressure game between Khan’s team Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians. It occurred close to the boundary rope near the dressing room as those in Shah Rukh’s entourage tried to move inside the field of play.

“He seemed drunk when he came to the ground at the end of game with about 40 people. When the ground’s watchman tried to stop him,he started abusing him,” Savant told The Indian Express.

Savant said that he would take up the matter with the BCCI and demand strict action against the cine star who,he claimed, abused the security personal on duty.

Giving the background to what happened after the KKR’s 32-run rout of MI at the Wankhede,Savant said Shah Rukh and his posse of bodyguards had gone up to the teams’ dressing room and then came down and started to go on to the ground.

“The MCA security personnel told them they cannot do so as the match was over which led to Shahrukh abusing them as well as the MCA officials. There was manhandling too by his people. We have decided to ban him from all future matches at the stadium. We are also going to lodge a police complaint against him,” Savant said.

In the melee, one of SRK’s security men snatched The Indian Express reporter’s mobile phone and deleted the photograph of the brawl.

Asked whether the MCA would lodge a complaint with the BCCI over one of the IPL team owner’s behaviour,Savant said the incident had taken place in the presence of IPL CEO Sundar Raman and BCCI’s media manager Devendra Prabhudesai.

“Of course we will lodge a complaint with the BCCI also,” Savant said.

He added that the intervention of the MCA managing committee member Vinod Deshpande didn’t help either as Shah Rukh insulted him as well. “We will be having an urgent managing committee meeting to discuss this issue. We will moot a move to ban him from the Wankhede and also file a police complaint against him,” said Savant.

The ruckus continued much after the game got over even as members of the KKR’s support staff, along with IPL CEO Sundar Raman, tried to pacify an agitated Shah Rukh. All-rounder Yusuf Khan, also came out of the dressing room, tried to broker peace as tempers flared around him.

The controversy vis-à-vis Shahrukh has come a few days after the cash-rich T20 tournament was rocked by a sting carried out by a private TV news channel in which five players were caught allegedly trying to indulge in corrupt practices.
