Avid reader Mrinalini Sharma talks about her favourite authors and her love for adventure novels.
Spunky, vivacious and intelligent,Mrinalini Sharma loves to live vicariously through adventure novels. The actor, who essays the role of Rajeev Khandelwal’s girlfriend Shonali in the forthcoming film,Soundtrack, says that the on-screen character is close to her. Shonali is raunchy, edgy and has grey shades to her character, says the actor who is presently shooting the Mumbai schedule for Ashwini Choudhary’s untitled film co-starring Bipasha Basu and R Madhavan.
A graduate in literature,Mrinalini loves to read, travel and watch films when she is not shooting. I am very fond of adventure novels and love reading books by Jeff Abbot and Steve Berry, says the actor who aspires to ride a bike soon. I plan to start with a light two-wheeler and I hope to ride one of the heavier bikes in the near future, she beams.
Mrinalinis favourite five authors
Stieg Larsson
Books: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest and The Girl Who Played With Fire
All of Larssons books have been beautifully written. Larssons strong point is his narrative. In The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, the protagonist is not pretty she is an average looking girl. Shes a character that I could relate to. The book was the first of Larsson’s Millennium Series.
Robert Pirsiq
Books: Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance
ASeventies bestseller, the book speaks of a father trying to bond with his son on a road trip. Somewhere I could relate to the heart-warming relationship between the father and his son.
Steve Berry
Books: The Amber Room
I love reading adventure novels, especially books by Steve Berry. The Amber Room was Berrys debut novel and I loved the plot. Nowadays I don’t really get a chance to read as I have been really busy promoting Soundtrack.
Jeff Abbot
Books: Race and Panic
Jeff is known for his suspense novels. I like the way he fleshes out his characters. Usually all his novels have many characters but he always does justice to them.
John Grogan
Books:Marley And Me
I haven’t read all of John Grogans books, but the tale of a dogs extraordinary presence in the life of an ordinary family that has stayed with me. I have two pets and I can relate to the authors feelings. When I read the book,I felt an anger inside me and was sad for two days.
