The National Commission for Women (NCW) will commence a two-day maha jansunwai (mega public hearing) in Kolkata to tackle the heavy load of complaints from women in the city.

The two-day public hearing will start from 10:00 am at Dr B C Roy Auditorium Hall at Sealdah Railway DRM Office. More than 200 cases are scheduled to be heard during the public hearing, which will be chaired by NCW member Archana Majumdar.

Breakthrough in talks, tea gardens to reopen

The tea gardens in north Bengal will start operating from today after weeks of closure over a dispute between the management and the labourers over pay and amenities. The breakthrough in the talks came on Saturday during a tripartite meeting at the office of the additional labour commissioner in Siliguri.

Also, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will virtually inaugurate a primary health centre at Redbank and 13 other tea estates from Uttar Kanya, the administrative headquarters of north Bengal, in Siliguri.

Dalit Literature Festival

Organised by the Paschimbanga Dalit Sahitya Akademi and the Department of Information and Culture, Government of West Bengal, a Dalit literature festival will begin at Rabindrasadan, Nandan, from Monday. The three-day festival is open to all and will between 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm daily.

The event will see the launch of 15 Dalit magazines and journals, and the presence of 300 Dalit poets and writers.

Training Workshop by Minister Supriyo

A training workshop on “Statutory Compliances, disclosure, regulatory frameworks along with Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code” will be inaugurated by Minister Babul Supriyo at Shilpa Sadan in Kolkata today.
