BJP rejects PM obstructionism charge, says he must reflect on his own record

Rejecting Manmohan Singh’s charge that its “obstructionist” behaviour was holding up crucial business in Parliament, the BJP

Rejecting Manmohan Singh’s charge that its “obstructionist” behaviour was holding up crucial business in Parliament, the BJP Friday said the prime minister should not pass on his regrets to the opposition party.

“Leave what the BJP feels. We are frustrated or not,you will see how people are going to respond to you after this. I would rather have the prime minister talk about why he has failed to function even after having the mandate given to him,” BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.

“Instead of pointing a finger at the BJP,tell us your record. Tell us what is your performance Mr prime minister?”

She added,“What happened to your 100-day promise: Telangana within 100 days, food bill within 100 days, women’s reservation bill within 100 days, and more importantly, control on prices within 100 days?”

Sitharaman was reacting to the prime minister’s remarks that the BJP’s “increased obstructionism” and had stalled many initiatives of his government. “The obstructionist role of the opposition has increased enormously in recent years. It is my great regret that some very essential business of the House has not been transacted because of these animosities between the opposition and the government,” Singh had said.
