Heavy police has been deployed outside the SP district office in Etawah to ensure supporters of the two groups don’t clash.
While visits from senior party leaders to Mulayam’s residence continued throughout the day, Akhilesh focused on his official duties and held a meeting with senior officials to review the government’s work.
He claimed that the documents run into over 1.5 lakh pages and bear signatures of over 200 MLAs, 56 of the 68 MLCs, 15 of the 24 MPs and nearly 4,600 of over 5,000 delegates supporting Akhilesh
The trouble started after newly appointed state party chief Naresh Uttam, appointed Gopal Yadav as Etawah party chief in place of Sunil Singh Yadav, who was appointed by Mulayam’s brother Shivpal
Mulayam wanted the entire party to accept him as national president, according to sources, whereas Akhilesh reportedly wanted to hold on to the post for at least three months — the period of the Assembly elections.
Mayawati also hit out at the Centre, saying the decision to present the budget during the elections has been taken with an intention to influence the voters by making “populist announcements”.
Akhilesh's supporters expect him to move beyond the Yadav-Muslim combine that has been the SP’s mainstay, and further distance it from its image of a party of goons.
Netaji may be old now, it is also said, but he hasn’t forgotten the names of people, or the way to their village — that is how he built the party, brick by brick.
Yechury said, "BJP and RSS would realise the real meaning of triple talaq when the Uttar Pradesh results come out...
The Akhilesh faction's documents were submitted by his loyalist uncle Ramgopal in copies of seven as asked by the poll panel.
"EC gave time till January 9 but we have submitted all relevant documents. We brought 7 cartons with more than 1.5 lakh pages," Ramgopal said.
The parleys had gained momentum on Friday with the Election Commission setting January 9 deadline for the two sides to stake claim to the 'cycle' symbol.
According to EC sources, cases of model code of conduct were also registered in Bijnore and Bulandshahr districts in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Party candidates would also be made aware about the BJP going back on poll promises, the "ill-planned" demonetisation measure, and "tricks" adopted by the saffron party to mislead people
According to the police, they had removed all the banners and posters on the roadside two days ago, but the accused allegedly put up their posters again.
The BSP supremo said that BSP can form its government in Uttar Pradesh once again with full majority.
Justice Katju said that the demonetisation move may cause more harm to BJP than benefit in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Kishor and his team have also vacated the office given to them in April last year in the state Congress headquarters
Party insiders claim that Akhilesh was not ready to compromise on the posts of the party's national president and state president and on the right to distribute assembly tickets.
In 2007, Mayawati had wooed Brahmins in a big way, organising Brahmin conventions for nearly two years, with BSP’s Brahmin face Satish Chandra Misra emerging as a star campaigner.
The Commission had asked both the camps to submit affidavits from supporting legislators and office bearers to establish their claim over Samajwadi Party and its election symbol 'cycle'.
"The family feud for grabbing power is a shameful act and dangerous for democratic ethics," said Bharti.
Reports were doing the rounds that Akhilesh was likely to meet Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi in Delhi early next week and a deal could be struck.
In this second list, the BSP has given 27 tickets to people belonging from the Scheduled Castes. On Thursday, the BSP released its first list of 100 candidates for the elections.
Sources did not rule out the possibility of resignation of Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh, the "outsider" whose return to SP triggered a storm in the ruling party in Uttar Pradesh, under a "compromise formula".
