Out of the 119 seats, 19 are reserved for the Scheduled Caste and 12 for the Scheduled Tribe candidates. The Assembly term expires on January 6, 2024.
The stakes are high for the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. While BRS is looking to hold on to its rule, Congress is hoping to make a mark after its remarkable performance in neighbouring Karnataka. In the 2018 assembly elections, BRS emerged victorious winning 88 out of 119 seats with Congress as a distant second with 19 seats. The BJP on the other hand could secure only one seat even though it fielded candidates in all, but one, constituencies.
