“Today, I am grateful to PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath that their governments have completed the pending works of 30 years in just 5 years. I congratulate those who win. I will continue to be in the service of the people of Amethi,” Irani said at a press conference.
“We will strengthen the organisation. We are the ones who have served the area with devotion. I went to every village in the area and worked. I gave 10 years of my life to this area,” she added.
The Amethi Lok Sabha constituency witnessed a slight increase in voter turnout during the 2024 general elections compared to 2019. According to the data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the voter turnout in Amethi stood at 54.08% in 2024, a marginal rise from the 52.38% recorded in the previous Lok Sabha polls.
The India Today-Axis My India Exit Poll 2024, conducted after the conclusion of voting on June 1, projected a close fight between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC) in Amethi. The poll suggested that the BJP was likely to retain the seat, with its candidate Smriti Irani emerging victorious.
Over the years, several members of the Gandhi family, including Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi, have represented this constituency in the lower house of Parliament.
As the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Amethi are expected to be a closely watched contest, with both the BJP and INC vying for the seat, the ECI will officially announce the results on June 4, Tuesday, putting an end to the suspense surrounding this high-stakes battle.
