While Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about his connection with chai (tea), Aam Aadmi Party celebrated one of its booth worker’s birthday at a polling centre. With the final phase of the polls nearing, the Election Commission too joined in the online discourse, amplifying voters voices and their ‘vibes’.

PM Modi, while addressing an election rally, recollected memories from his childhood, saying that he had grown up washing cups and plates, and serving tea. He connected the rising of the sun, signifying victory, to the bloom of the lotus (BJP’s symbol) and people’s habit of sipping tea first thing in the morning.

The prime minister reiterated his strong connection with the chai, while claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party had all the makings of being victorious in the ongoing polls.
AAP posted a video of polling day, with Delhi minister Saurabh Bhardwaj greeting one of the party’s booth workers on his 80th birthday. In the video, Bhardwaj is seen placing a birthday cap on the elderly worker’s head. The worker’s wife is also called while others bring a cake for him to cut at the polling booth itself.

“So, it is Sharda ji’s 80th birthday today and on this day, he has been sitting at the booth since 5:30 am…We will be celebrating his birthday at the booth only,” Bharadwaj said. “AAP minister wins everyone’s hearts,” the party captioned the video posted on its official Instagram handle.
The Election Commission has been acing the social media game throughout the ongoing Lok Sabha elections with its hashtag challenges encouraging voters’ participation. In the days leading up to the seventh and last phase of the polls, the poll body has come up with themes to let voters voice themselves and to capture some “poll day moments”.

In a post on X, EC posted a first-time voter’s experience after casting their vote, with the title ‘Voter Speaks’. “Have a look at what these voters have to express after casting their votes in General Elections 2024!” the post caption read.

In another post, the poll body posted a picture of a unique scenario, wherein voters from the Sundar Patti panchayat in Pakridayal village reached polling booths in a boat to cast their votes. “Voting Vibes,” read the text on the picture.
