Several senior BJP leaders Monday took to X and added ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ (Modi’s family) in their social media handle usernames. This comes as a statement in solidarity with their party’s top leader Prime Minister Narendra Modi after RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav’s ‘no family’ remark.
The leaders who have done this so far include Union Home Minister Amit Shah, party president J P Nadda, Union Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman among others.
A day earlier at INDIA bloc’s rally, Yadav made the comment about the prime minister having no family. “Ye Modi kya hai? Modi koi cheez hai? Narendra Modi parivarvaad par bolta hai aur kitne netaon ka kitna santaan hai ginta hai…hum kya karein agar tumhare paas parivar nahi hai (What is Modi? Modi speaks on dynastic politics and keeps counting how many leaders have their children in politics. What can we do if he does not have a family of his own?).
At a rally in Adilabad in Telangana, PM Modi on Monday attacked “dynasty parties” in the country, saying they may have different faces, but “jhoot and loot” was their common character.
The “140 crore people of this country are my family. “Mera Bharat mera parivar (My India is my family),” he said.
He further said his “life is like an open book. People of the country know about it.” “When I left home in my childhood, I left with a dream that I will live for the countrymen.”
The PM began a 10-day whirlwind tour of 12 states and Union Territories, starting with Telangana and Tamil Nadu. This comes before the Election Commission (EC) announces the parliamentary election schedule and the Model Code of Conduct kicks in.
The Congress took a swipe at the BJP over its campaign of leaders suffixing their names on social media profiles with “Modi Ka Parivar”, saying they were “misleading” the people from real issues and indulging in such tactics as the INDIA bloc was “growing”.
About the BJP’s campaign, Congress general secretary organisation K C Venugopal said, “You could see the enthusiasm among the public in Patna yesterday. Everyday INDIA bloc is growing, that is why the BJP people are annoyed.”
Do the women of Manipur find a place in Modi ka Parivar?
Will the PM call the farmers protesting on the borders of Delhi his Parivar?
What about the unemployed youth forced to commit suicide everyday – why won’t the PM call them his Parivar?
The reality is, this government…

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh took a dig at the BJP, saying “now they cannot talk about parivarvad (nepotism)”.
Congress’ media department head Pawan Khera said, “Waiting for Upendra Rawat, Pawan Singh & Brijbhushan Sharan Singh to add Modi Ka Pariwar to their bio.” Later, Khera shared a screenshot the social media bio of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh who had suffixed ‘Modi Ka Parivar’. “Modi Ka Pariwar welcomes Brijbhushan Sharan Singh,” Khera said in a post on X.
Waiting for #UpendraRawat, #PawanSingh & #BrijbhushanSharanSingh to add Modi Ka Pariwar to their bio.

Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari said the BJP’s principles keep changing. “Earlier, they used to say that the country comes first, then the party and then the leader. Earlier, it was the Sangh Parivar, now it is the Modi Parivar. These are all misleading things, they should write in their profiles why there is no employment, why MSP guarantee is not given to the farmers, Modi should give guarantee that he will bring back black money” he said.
They are indulging in media management using money power, Patwari said.
