Baharampur Lok Sabha constituency: One of the parliamentary constituencies in West Bengal, Baharampur, earlier known as Berhampore is traditionally a bastion of the Congress party. Current sitting MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has been representing the constituency from Congress, since 1999 till date. In the last two Lok Sabha elections (2019 and 2014), Adhir Rajan won the seat, defeating candidates of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) significantly. Ahead of Lok Sabha 2024 elections, Baharampur is scheduled to go into polls on May 7, Phase 3, witnessing an interesting fray between the BJP's Nirmal Kumar Saha and the TMC's Yusuf Pathan, with Adhir Ranjan re-contesting from Congress to continue his power play. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Congress: Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has been representing the Congress party from Baharampur for three terms from 2009 to 2019, defeating the long-standing Revolutionary Socialist Party's (RSP) stronghold in Baharampur. Reflecting on the last three Lok Sabha elections, Adhir Ranjan has won the seat with a margin of 80,696 votes by defeating Apurba Sarkar (David) of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) in 2019, Indranil Sen of the AITC with a margin of 156,567 votes in 2014, and Pramothes Mukherjee of the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) in 2009. In addition to winning the Lok Sabha elections from Baharampur, Chowdhury has also won the 2016 Assembly elections in all seven Assembly segments under the Berhampore Lok Sabha seat. Yusuf Pathan, TMC: Former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan will debut in the upcoming Lok Sabha 2024 elections from the Baharampur Lok Sabha constituency, representing the Trinamool Congress (TMC) party. After organising his first election rally in West Bengal, Pathan spoke with reporters stating, “I have a big team here. This is completely a different pitch but the asking rate is the same. The aim of my team will be the same, which is to score runs faster and win the match.” Dr Nirmal Kumar Saha, BJP: "Will go to every house with PM Modi's message of Viksit Bharat," well-renowned surgeon in Murshidabad district, Dr Nirmal Kumar Saha, spoke to ANI.
