Candidates who are participating in the third round of medical admissions in Maharashtra need to ensure that they fill in fresh college choices in preference order, as those submitted for the earlier two rounds will not be valid, authorities said in a notification on Saturday. Furthermore, the candidates, if allotted a seat in this round, will be required to take admission, as they will not be considered for subsequent rounds. The third round of Common Admission Process (CAP) for medical admissions in the state for MBBS and BDS courses is currently underway by the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell. The online registration and application process will close on Wednesday. Officials said that those candidates who have either cancelled their seat in Round 2 or not joined but wish to participate in CAP Round 3 have to unlock the application, resubmit the form, and make the payment. “The choices filled by candidates for CAP Round 2 will be treated as null and void. All candidates participating in CAP Round 3 must fill fresh choices (preferences) for this round,” read the notification. After the completion of the second round of admissions, 636 seats in MBBS, including 168 in government and 468 in private colleges, are lying vacant, while 891 BDS seats, including 53 in government and 883 in private colleges, are also yet to be filled. The provisional merit list of registered candidates will be published on October 9. On the same day, the seat matrix will be published, and candidates will be given time from October 10 to 12 for online filling of preference forms for CAP Round 3. Following this, the third-round selection list will be released on October 15. Selected candidates must report to the respective colleges and complete the admission process between October 16 and 20 by 5.30 pm. The notification also noted that it is mandatory to join the allotted seat of CAP Round-3. Candidates who are allotted a seat in CAP Round-3 will not be considered for subsequent rounds, irrespective of whether they join or do not join the allotted seat of CAP Round-3.
