15-day Raksha Bandhan festivities begin in Peshawar

The grand event is being held at Kalibari Temple in Peshawar cantonment.

The Hindu community from across Khyber-Pakthunkhwa province of northwest Pakistan converged here today for 15 days of festivities to mark Raksha Bandhan.

The grand event is being held at Kalibari Temple in Peshawar cantonment. Elders of the minority Hindu community decided to celebrate the event in a befitting manner this year.

All Pakistan Hindu Rights Movement chairman Haroon Sarab Dayal said that the elders decided to make Raksha Bandhan a big event after several years.

Hindus from Mardan,Nowshera and other cities and towns across the province are participating in the event.

Raksha Bandhan is a festival in which sisters tie a ‘rakhi’ or a sacred thread on their brothers’ wrist.
