Trump claims he saved Iran’s supreme leader from ‘ugly death’, questions Tehran’s victory declaration over Israel

In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump lashed out at Khamenei’s post-war rhetoric: “Why would the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’… say he won the war with Israel, when he knows his statement is a lie?”

US President Donald Trump on Friday claimed he spared the life of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during the recent Israel-Iran conflict, accusing the Iranian leader of lying about winning the war while warning that he could have authorised a deadly strike but chose not to.

In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered, and would not let Israel, or the U.S. Armed Forces… terminate his life. I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH.”

He further lashed out at Khamenei’s post-war rhetoric: “Why would the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’… say he won the war with Israel, when he knows his statement is a lie?”

‘Big Day’ attack called off

Trump revealed that in the final stages of the 12-day war, he ordered Israel to recall a large group of warplanes heading toward Tehran to prevent mass casualties.

“It was going to be the biggest attack of the War, by far… many Iranians would have been killed,” he wrote.

He claimed he was working on easing sanctions to help Iran recover from the war damage but dropped all such efforts after receiving “a statement of anger, hatred, and disgust” from Tehran.

Post-war warning to Iran

Calling Iran a “burned out, blown up Country, with no future,” Trump said the leadership must “get back into the World Order flow” or face worsening isolation and hardship.

“I wish the leadership of Iran would realize that you often get more with HONEY than you do with VINEGAR. PEACE!!!”

A US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Iran took effect on June 24, ending nearly two weeks of fierce conflict. Trump called it the end of “THE 12 DAY WAR” and praised both nations for reaching an agreement.

Iran had launched missiles at Israel and US bases in the Gulf, including the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Trump confirmed American strikes had destroyed three Iranian nuclear sites during the war.

Though the ceasefire is holding, Trump made it clear that further Iranian uranium enrichment could trigger renewed US military action.
