In multiple shooting incidents in Wichita, Kansas, five people have died in three different homes, according to a report by NBC News.
As per media reports, a 911 call was received around 6pm on Sunday and a shooting was reported on the 1700 block of Santa Fe.
The Wichita Police Department, in a statement said that when its team reached the spot, the officers responding to the incident found a man who was dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Thereafter, the officers conducted a thorough search of the area and later on found another home, which was over half a mile away from the first incident site, which had three additional victims of gunshot wounds, the police statement added.
While searching the neighbourhood, another police officer found that a man was lying dead with a deadly gunshot wound in a living room of the house, the Wichita Police Department said.
The police department’s spokesman Andrew Ford said, “At this time, we believe all victims are known to each other, and there is no outstanding suspect or ongoing threat to the community. While our investigation is still in its preliminary stages, we suspect that one of the victims may be the possible shooter.”
Wichita police chief Joe Sullivan said that the officers have a strong direction on which victim was the shooter, but it was too early to make any judgment on the case or say about it. Though the police believe that all victims were familiar to each other and one of them was the shooter among all.
